Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology
Our Diploma in Nail Technology qualification is intended for anyone looking to develop their nail artistry skills, customer service, health and safety and client care and communication to advance their career in nail artistry, or as a nail technician. This qualification can lead to careers in a range of sectors, including self-employment, spas and salons and the retail industry. This qualification provides the essential knowledge and understanding you need to help start your career as a nail technician, so if you have a passion for nails, this is the perfect course.
At a glance
The qualification is delivered in face-to-face classes with a mixture of theory and practical elements. There will be expert demonstrations of practical skills which learners will then practise in class with tutors on hand to guide and support. Further practise and study will be required at home to perfect skills and techniques. Learners will be expected to attend a minimum of one session each week in the centre, but individual timetables will be agreed
with your tutor at induction.

- Each level lasts approximately 414 guided learning hours.
- Approximately 12 weeks – 1 day per week
- Courses offered through the Advanced Learner Loans route (funding is subject to meeting the eligibility criteria)
Units
There are 9 units in this qualification:
- Provide manicure treatments
- Provide pedicure treatments
- Apply and maintain nail enhancements
- Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Maintain personal health and wellbeing
- Promote products and services to clients in a salon
- Display stock to promote sales in a salon
- Design and apply nail art
In this qualification, you will learn the following nail techniques and topics:
- Gel and acrylic nail extensions
- Fibreglass and silk nail extensions
- Nail art
- Anatomy and physiology
Progression Routes
Learners who complete our L3 Diploma in Nail Technology qualification can progress onto study a variety of other courses within CTP, or with external providers. Contact CTP for information on progression routes.

Entry Criteria
- Age: 19 +
- No prior make-up qualifications required
- Minimum L1 English language skills are preferred
- Must not hold an equivalent qualification at the same or higher level
- Funded and co-funded qualifications are subject to meeting eligibility criteria
- Must not be enrolled on the same, or equivalent, programme elsewhere
- Learners will need to bring a make-up kit to their sessions, but a full kit list will be provided at induction
