Level 3 Diploma in Bridal Hair and Makeup

Our Level 3 Diploma in Bridal Hair and Make-up (RQF) is aimed at those learners currently working in the Hair and Beauty Sector, or who want to enter the industry to specialise in Bridal Hair and Make-up. The aim of the qualification is to provide learners with advanced practical skills and knowledge in Bridal Hair and Make-up.  

Upon successful achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Bridal Hair and Make-up, learners will have gained the technical skills to create a range of Bridal Hair Styles and provide Bridal Make-up services to clients. The learner will also gain the knowledge and skills required for applying false eyelashes and styling special occasion hair.  

At a glance:

The qualification is delivered in a face-to-face environment with a mixture of theory and practical elements. Practical demonstrations will be given by industry experts and all learners will have the chance to put their skills to good use with tutor-aided practice sessions. Further practice and study will be required at home to hone and perfect your skills. Learners are expected to attend one session per week in the studio, individual timetables will be agreed upon with your tutor during induction.

Course duration: approximately 19 weeks (1 day per week in the studio)  

Course funding: Advanced Learner Loans provided by Student Finance (subject to meeting the eligibility requirements)  

Entry requirements: Learner must hold a minimum of level 2 qualification in either beauty therapy/hairdressing or makeup to qualify for the course.

Qualification Breakdown

To achieve the nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma in Bridal Hair and Make-up (RQF) the learner must achieve a total of 63 credits from the mandatory units:  

  • Monitor & maintain health and safety in the salon  

  • Maintaining personal health and wellbeing  

  • Working in the hair industry  

  • Explore technological developments within the hair beauty and associated areas  

  • Client consultation for hair services  

  • The art of dressing hair  

  • Styling bridal hair  

  • Styling and dressing hair using a range of techniques  

  • Special occasion hairstyles  

  • Apply makeup  

  • Bridal makeup  

  • Asian bridal makeup  

  • False eyelash application

Over the course of the programme, you will create a portfolio of work which will consist of:

  • Plaits & twists for bridal looks & festival hair  

  • Classic & Modern Bridal hair  

  • Matte & Dewy Makeup (day/evening & special occasion looks)  

  • Western & Asian Bridal Makeup (classic/glam)  

  • Asian Bridal Hair with Jewellery & Scarf Setting  

  • Celeb Looks/Hair Pieces & Promotion on social media  

  • Applying false lashes (strip & cluster)  

Progression Routes

Learners who complete our L3 Diploma in Bridal Hair and Makeup qualification can progress onto study a variety of other courses within CTP or with external providers such as college & universities. Contact CTP for more information on progression routes.

Entry Criteria

Age: 19+  

Entry Profile:   

  • Level 2 qualification in beauty/hair or makeup  

  • Minimum L1 English language skills are desirable  

  • Funded & co-funded qualifications are subject to meeting eligibility criteria  

  • Must not be enrolled on the same, or equivalent programme elsewhere
